ISOLTOur more cultured members raved about this but I loathed it. I suppose I was grateful, at last, to know who Proust was but it’s not for me.

I can relate to dozing then being unaware of the time and sleeping in a different room and not sure where door is

But he goes on and on about goodnight kiss from mother, cries on leaving hawthorns and remembers good summers and reckons that rain is simply a bad mood.

I had to look up simulacram = “likeness, similarity”

Swan in love with Odette gets a good description.

And what of p. 378 ‘muff danced in front of her’
